“One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, what clothes I wore or how much money I had in my bank account … But the world may be a little better, because I was important in the life of a child”
… Author unknown.

Babies, Childlren and Seniors make beautiful music together.

Imagine a setting where multiple generations, from tiny babies to ageing seniors, come together to share, learn and grow through the joys of music?

Hi! I’m Simone and I have been a Kindermusik Educator for 18 years!Prior to this I worked in office environments for forty years and always dreamed that one day I would be spending time doing something I really loved. This was when I discovered Kindermusik which gave me flexibility, musical expression and helped me touch children with the magic of music. At this time, I also belonged to a choir which visited nursing homes periodically, to bring the joy of music to seniors.

A few years ago, Kindermusik, the world’s leading music and movement program for young children developed a new concept of including seniors in its program. Under this concept Kindermusik Educators bring a class of babies and their parents to a senior centre to participate in a very special version of a Kindermusik Cuddle and Bounce/Sing and play class. I would love to do this on a weekly basis some day, but at the moment we visit an Aged Care facility in Templestowe more or less monthly. The class is a hit. Seniors love babies and children - and children bring an energy that senior residents don’t often get to experience.

The seniors involved can range greatly in age, as well as physical and mental capacity. But one thing is consistent. They all seem to thrive on the musical interaction with babies and children through Kindermusik.

My heart is glowing that at last I have achieved my dream job and being a senior myself (I turn 78 this year) I thank the good Lord above that I have been given the opportunity to make a difference. The families involved in this venture have given me their loving support for which I am eternally grateful.
